Building Confidence in Today’s G.I.R.L.
Olivia Hooten
My Gold Award, “Building Confidence in Today’s G.I.R.L.”, aims to address the issue of low confidence in young girls and to show them that they are capable of doing anything. I would like to help girls develop the confidence to try new things through STEM. I have worked with multiple Girl Scout Troops as well as 4th graders at Shaw ES to teach confidence through STEM activities.
As a part of my legacy to build confidence in girls, I have created a website and YouTube Channel that houses all of the materials that I created and/or used.
Recipient of the GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship
Olivia was one of 110 Girl Scouts awarded the GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship in 2023 due to her work to build girls’ confidence through in-person and online STEM activities.
This $10,000 scholarship is awarded annually to one Gold Award Girl Scout per council in recognition of her extraordinary leadership, the measurable and sustainable impact of her project, and how her project addressed an issue of national or global significance.
