Angel’s Pass Park

Part of the Beavercreek Township Park district, Angel’s Pass Park has a special place in the Beavercreek North Service Unit history.

The Story

Angel’s Pass Park is a memorial to Girl Scouts. On March 18, 1959, the girls and leaders of Troop 133 went to the Xenia Library to do research for a badge. On their return, their car was hit by a train while crossing the railroad tracks on Factory road (the site of the current bike trail). The collision took the lives of everyone in the car. The Girl Scouts lost 2 leaders and 8 girls in this tragedy.

As a result, the Ohio state government created new laws implementing railroad gates or signals at most all crossings. Shortly thereafter, Beavercreek opened its own library. The Girl Scouts implemented new guidelines for field trip safety and worked to build this memorial in conjunction with the City of Beavercreek.

A Girl Scout Memorial

Angel's Pass Park sign

There is a memorial stone placed next to a flag pole at the center of the park. There are eight benches circling the stone, one for each girl in the troop.

Beavercreek North’s Service Project

An ongoing service project in our Service Unit, most Beavercreek North troops sign up for a week during the year to take care of the garden in the center of the memorial.

This care includes pulling weeds, picking up any trash, picking up sticks, watering if necessary, and planting and mulching when required.

Please help us remember these Girl Scouts by keeping the Angel’s Pass memorial beautiful.
